About New Buffalo, Michigan (courtesy of Wikipedia)

New Buffalo is a city in Berrien County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,200 at the 2000 census.

New Buffalo is also a popular Chicago resort town. Roughly 60 miles east of Chicago, Illinois residents frequently visit the town during the Summer months. As a result, extensive construction of condos and second homes has made it into a up-scale resort town from May to September. If you happen to visit during a warm summer weekend, you’ll find more Illinois license plates than Michigan. While some are excited by the property appreciation and number of new condos, townhomes and residential subdivisions being built in New Buffalo, others believe that the charm of the lakefront town is being destroyed by rampant development catering largely to second homeowners. This catering to second homeowners has also caused property values to balloon to well over $1 million for a number of homes and condominiums, and it is nearly impossible to find property under $75,000.

Popular restaurants include Brewsters, The Stray Dog, Casey’s, Hannah’s, Oink’s Ice Cream, and Redamak's.
